Ancient Ovens Q & A
Q: How small or big of a group can I bring out?
A: Ancient Ovens has served as few as two, and as many as 60 (comfortably).
Q: Will my party have their own table for the evening?
A: Ancient Ovens makes every attempt to seat groups based on their group size. We are a home style dining event with a “European flair”, hence elements of groups or couples are sometimes seated at a common table based on this.
Q: Can I request to sit in the Pavillion (near the oven) or on the lookout?
A: Yes…. When you call to make a reservation, please let me (Denis) know if you have a seating preference. All attempts will be made to accommodate your party.
Q: Why does that “guy” who occasionally cuts pizza, look like that guy that gave my friends and I a tour at Arche’ winery?
A: That’s because it is that “guy”, Howard Davies, of Arche’ winery fame. Remember, Arche’ is open to provide vineyard tours, a quick look at the wine making process and tastings all the way and up until Ancient Ovens begins to serve. Don’t forget to pick up a bottle of Cab or Syrah (or both) from them before you come dine with us.
Q: What time do you start seating for the evening’s event?
A: During the warmer months, we like our guests to arrive about 30 minutes prior to Sunset. Soon thereafter, the sun disappears, and Ancient Ovens lights up like an old time amusement park. However, always check the event calendar on our website for detailed arrival times.
Q: Does Ancient Ovens play music?
A: Yes, we pipe music onto our lookout, and into the pavilion and the inside dining area. Mostly a 1960’s and 1970’s mix of classic rock, folk, etc.
Q: Can my children come to Ancient Ovens?
A: Yes…. however …., our experience over the last two years has shown us that Ancient Ovens is predominantly an adult venue that is located on a working farm. People come from great distance and tell us time and time again that we are one of the most eclectic and romantic dining sites they have visited. “The perfect date night spot” for couples old and young, married or not”. If you would like to bring young children, we ask that they remain at their seating area with an adult guardian as well as be escorted (for their safety due to our working farm status) to and from the rest rooms by an adult. The dinner cost for children ages 3 through 12 is 15.00 dollars.
Q: Do you still have the “cleanest porta potty in Montague County”?
A: Sadly no. As much as our guests told us how much they enjoyed going inside it and looking at the “Six Flags” blue water, we had to depart company with our old friend. In it’s place and as part of our new dining area, we have plumbed in separate men’s and women’s restrooms.
Q: What is that blue heeler’s name that always greets us as we walk up to the pavilion?
A: That’d be …… Scrubby
Q: Can you tell me how many calories and fat grams are in your Dark Chocolate Hazelnut desert calizone, and your Italian Teardrops and your Neapolitan pizzas, and your spinach / artichoke dip….. oh…. and your wood fired sourdough hearth baked bread?
A: No. Don’t know. May we suggest that you not let Ancient Ovens be your choice for a low carb, low cal evening. Between Arche Winery and Ancient Ovens, let us be your evening to live, love, laugh.
Q: What if I have reservations and it starts to rain or get really cold? Will Ancient Ovens cancel service or what?
A: Ancient Ovens will near completion of our inside element free dining area, Blue Dog Dining Hall, mid to late March. So, the “party goes on” rain or shine, hot or cold. Our indoor dining lodge is completed and whether it is raining or really cold, it is warm and cozy inside!!
Q: The event calendar states that the evening dining will be al fresco (under the pavilion and on the lookout dining area), but can my party sit in the new inside dining room instead?
A: Unfortunately, no. Ancient Ovens only staffs to serve “either” in Blue Dog Dining Hall or al fresco. The event calendar will reflect. Ancient Ovens reserves the right to modify dining areas based on weather conditions.
